Edinburgh Sustainability Week is a week of events and activities for everyone at the University of Edinburgh to come together to make a difference on health, development, environment and social justice.
Edinburgh Sustainability Awards
It’s also the launch of the Edinburgh Sustainability Awards which will empower individuals and teams to take action to make their departments more socially responsible and sustainable. You can find our more at one of the five introductory talks at different campuses.

One World, One Health: from Rhetoric Towards Reality

Sue Welburn, Professor of Medical and Veterinary Molecular Epidemiology, discusses how we can build a more interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral approach to preventing disease and maintaining ecosystems. Please register on-line at the website.
Travel and Volunteering Fair
Wednesday 27 Oct. 1-4pm, Teviot Row House, Bristo Square
There will be a range of organisations exhibiting who can offer gap year opportunities, shorter projects abroad, voluntary positions locally and globally and working holidays. The fair is for students who are looking for extra-curricular experience of volunteering or travelling.
Winging It – Our Love Hate Relationship With Flying
Wednesday 27 Oct. 6.30pm, Faculty Room North, David Hume Tower, George Square
The growth in flying has revolutionised the world around us, but given its environmental impacts can the explosion in air travel continue? Is it possible to explore the world without flying? Climate Change at the Movies

Christian Aid and Cineco, Edinburgh University’s free Environmental Film Festival, presents a panel discussion about the Millennium Development Goal of Ecological Sustainability. In collaboration with The Centre for Theology and Public Issues.

Love your food? Love eating, cooking, growing,… playing? Transition Edinburgh University invites you to join a skills workshop all about apples as part of the Transition Food and Abundance Edinburgh projects.
